Privacy Policy

KOh Services LLC (“KOh Services,” “we,” “us”) operates Bucketeer, a mobile app for tracking the real-world places you visit, earning badges, and connecting with friends. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Account-optional by design

You can use Bucketeer without creating an account. Until you choose to create one, your check-ins, badges, and preferences are stored only on your device and are not sent to us or anyone else. Creating an account enables cloud backup, syncing across devices, and connecting with friends.

Information we collect

  • Account information (only if you create an account): your email address, a display name, and an optional profile photo or avatar.
  • Activity data: the places you check in to, the badges you earn, your home country, and your favorite collections.
  • Friends data: your friend connections, your invite code, and the profile information friends can see (display name, avatar, and your recent activity and badges).
  • Location: with your permission, Bucketeer reads your device location to suggest nearby places to check in to. Location is used on the device for that purpose; a coordinate is stored only as part of a check-in you confirm. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Advertising & device information: to show ads, our advertising partner may access device and advertising identifiers, subject to your consent (see “Advertising” below).

How we use information

  • To provide the app: record check-ins, compute badges, and power search and nearby detection.
  • To enable friends: let you send and accept invites and see friends’ activity and badges.
  • To back up and sync your data across your devices once you have an account.
  • To show and measure ads, and to support the optional ad-free subscription.

How your data is stored and shared

We do not sell your personal information. Your account and activity data are stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage). We use the following service providers:

  • Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdMob — advertising. See Google’s Privacy & Terms.

Friends you connect with can see your display name, avatar, recent activity, and badges. Removing a friend revokes their access to your activity.

Advertising and tracking

Bucketeer shows ads through Google AdMob unless you purchase the ad-free subscription. Where required (for example, in the EEA and UK), we present a consent choice before serving personalized ads. On iOS, we ask for permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline consent or tracking, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized. You can change these choices at any time in your device settings.

Your choices and rights

  • Access and update: you can edit your display name and avatar in the app.
  • Delete your account and data: you can delete your account at any time from within the app — open the Me tab and tap Delete account. This permanently removes your account and your cloud data (profile, check-ins, badges, and friend connections) from our systems; your history on the device you’re using stays until you remove the app. You may also email us to request deletion.
  • Consent: you can withdraw or change ad consent and tracking permission in your device settings.

Data retention

We keep your account and activity data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your associated data from our active systems; backups are purged on a rolling basis.

Children

Bucketeer is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including access controls and encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, notifying you in the app.
